You've heard about autism, ADHD, and neurodivergence. But what do these terms all mean? In this video I interview Diana Tiessen, an associate at www.PsychologyForGrowth.com. Diana has a special interest in neurodivergence: a term used to describe people whose brains operate differently than most typical brains (i.e., neurotypical). Most often, the term neurodivergent is used to describe individuals on the spectrum of autism (autism spectrum disorder, or ASD) as well as those with attention issues (e.g., attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD). In this interview, Diana and I discuss some of the presenting symptoms, signs, and impacts that neurodivergent brains can have on behaviours, how people with ASD play an essential role in society, and why it's more important for neurotypicals to understand those with neurodivergent brains rather than the other way around. Some key terms in this video: #ASD, #autism, #neurodivergent, #ADHD, #counselling, #psycholgy You can find out more about Diana by visiting our site at https://psychologyforgrowth.com/our-a...
